Right after the launch of the passenger locomotive production line under the license of Siemens in 1989 and 1990, a proposal to build passenger, freight, and shunting locomotives was proposed by the engineering team of the company with some senior managers, and the acquisition of the engineering knowledge of these locomotives by the domestic expert force It was placed in the priorities of Mapna Group in 1991-1992, until within 18 months, six tunnel locomotives were produced and put into operation in this company.

After some time, Mapna Group also became active in the field of urban trains. The presence of this group in metro projects goes back to 1387 and participating in the Mashhad metro tender, followed by participating in the Qom monorail tender in 1388. The engineering, management, and financing characteristics of Mapna Group were considered an advantage that led to the progress of this group in the rail field and its entry into Tehran Metro tenders and finally signing the contract for Tehran Metro Line 6 in 2015.
Currently, Mapna Group’s vision in the field of railways is to develop the domestic market and use local experts to design and manufacture railway equipment. This group plans to enter foreign markets at the same time as the country’s rail transportation industry grows.
